Kpop Schedules Finally Return to Normal

Posted by diopatra on May 30, 2009

With the entire K-entertainment industry is on hold to mourn ex-president Roh Moo Hyun’s suicide, many fans are left wondering if/where/when their favorite groups will perform on the three major music shows: KBS Music Bank, MBC Music Core, and SBS Inkigayo. allkpop is here to clear up the confusion.

KBS Music Bank, which normally airs on Fridays at 6:35 PM Korean Time (5:35 AM EST), was not recorded this week, as the three major networks (KBS, MBC, and SBS) held off all entertainment programs until after Roh Moo Hyun’s funeral on May 29th.

MBC Music Core, which normally airs on Saturdays at 4:20 PM Korean Time (3:20 AM EST), was also not recorded this week. But, because last week’s recording never went on air, MBC will broadcast last week’s recording during this week’s time slot. The main feature of last/this week’s Music Core was/will be Son Dambi’s goodbye stage, in which she performed/will perform last year’s hit “Crazy” and her newest single, “Saturday Night”

Finally, SBS Inkigayo, which normally airs on Sundays at 3:15 Korean Time (do the math), was not recorded last week. But the show did it’s usual tabulation of music charts anyway, and 2PM won it’s third Mutizen for it’s hit “Again & Again”, earning itself a triple crown! Congrats to the boys. Now since a song can only win up to three Mutizens, the seven hunks are out of the running for this week’s award – so Hottests, don’t panic when they don’t win. But, news reports state that for Inkigayo the group will perform a special remix of “Again & Again” and reveal their own version of the Energy Song. Adding to the excitement, 2NE1 will finally perform “Fire” for the second time after fourteen days of waiting.

12 Days Into Debut Single ‘FIRE’ Makes 200 Million Won

Posted by diopatra on May 30, 2009

Girl group 2NE1 has renacted their sibling group Big Bang’s “hundred million apotheosis (?)

2NE1 had released their single (Fire) on the 6th and just after 12 days have made sales records of over a hundred million won. Their senior group, Big Bang, who are in the same label as them have recently made over 1 billion won in sales with 3 CM songs and so is being compared to that. In the singing industry it can be as far as to coin them as “the million won siblings”. In one music portal site the party stated “Until the 17th 2NE1′s sales were calculated to be over 2 million won. When they had finally appeared on their first ever music program on the 17th the sales had went up overwhelmingly.”

This result has come from SK Telecom’s sound source service that first changed MLB system’s sales into consumer price and then into the total market scale. The surprising thing about it is that just after one appearance on a program the outcome had increased a lot. On the 17th, the only program 2NE1 appeared on was the SBS music program . When 2NE1 had appeared on stage on the program the viewer’s rating had skyrocketed into 14.9% (according to AGB Media).

Their record label, YG Entertainment’s party states “The strategy of participating in a famous commericial before their debut to get to know them had a strong effect.”

2NE1 consists of Park Bom, Sandara Park, Gong Minji, and CL who are planning to release a mini album and start their activities in the beginning of next month.

The official website for the live-action theatrical film based on Kozueko Morimoto’s Gokusen school comedy manga is streaming the film’s trailer. (In the linked page, select the “予告編” link in the bottom menu, and then select the “予告” video on the righthand side.) The website is also still streaming the teaser trailer for the film. 29-year-old Yukie Nakama is reprising her starring role of Kumiko “Yankumi” Yamaguchi, the high school teacher with yakuza ties, one last time for the film. The film will serve as a finale to the three television seasons that Toya Sato (live-action Grave of the Fireflies, Sexy Voice and Robo) directed from 2002 to 2008. Veteran film director Junya Satō (live-action Golgo 13) is assisting Sato on the new project.

Shun Oguri, Yuma Ishigaki, and Hiroki Narimiya will reprise their roles from the first season, and Kazuya Kamenashi, Mocomichi Hayami, Teppei Koike, and Keisuke Koide return from the second season. The film will focus primarily on students seen in the last season, as played by Haruma Miura (Ren Kazama), Yuuya Takaki (Yamato Ogata), and Yūta Tamamori of the Johnny’s Jr. idol group Kis-My-Ft2.

Media Blasters released the television animated version of the manga in North America from 2004 to 2005.
