Sports Khan: Last year, 2PM made their name to Korea’s music scene with their debut song “10 out of 10.” This year, they came back stronger with the hit song “Again&Again” which is now dominating top spots on many music charts.

2PM achieved their first award after their debut from M! Countdown on May 7th. After that, they continue their winning run by bagging first Mutizen from SBS “Ingigayo” on May 10th, 2nd No.1 on M! Countdown on May 14th and another Mutizen Award from SBS “Ingigayo” on May 17th.

It takes them 9 months to rise to the top spot in this competitive Idol world. 2PM group is looked promising since their debut song “10 out of 10” and with such an addictive song “Again & Again” they managed to take on the top successfully.

With the composition by JYP that has drawn public attention, The talents and charms of each 2PM members are also the key to this success.

2PM revealed that they are “still hungry”. They explained their needs to grow more even though they are getting a lot of fame. They said they had predicted that “Again & Again” would be a hit.

“When we first listened to “Again & Again”, we memorized the lyrics at once. They told us that our new song would be more mature and they were right. Our strategy was to comeback with more serious concept besides our previous naughty-boy one.”

Also, 2PM told that their strength lies in their teamwork. Chansung said he had a great time back in their dorms. For example, he would play computer games like Warcraft and had an all-night chatting with other members. This is because they have been living together for years as JYP’s trainees.
2PM added they enjoyed spending daily life with Nichkhun. They enjoy helping Nichkhun who is from Thailand to adapt himself to Korean food, Korean language as well as the culture. Taecyeon said that Nickhun sometimes surprises them with his ability in speaking difficult Korean sentences.

They also told that their popularity in Thailand is just like other powerful singers because of Nichkhun. They added that when they went to Thailand to perform for Wonder Girls’ concert, they were surprised by loads of fans and journalists who came to see them specially. All these things were thanked to “Nichkhun’s Power.” They added they received a large number of elephant dolls from Thai fans.

Thailand has been known as the country where korean songs and artists are popular and loved by Thai fans.

Nickhun said that Taiwanese and Japanese songs used to be popular in Thailand but now Korean songs are more popular. This is because that Korean songs are more fun and contain unique concepts. Let alone the fact that Korean stars are pretty and handsome.

Nickhun also added that he was satisfied with his life in Korea without missing his family and friends. He is getting use to the cold weather as well.

2PM said they dreamed of becoming world star over Korea.

“We visited our company branch (JYP USA) to record our new album. We also wanted to release an album in USA.” 2PM said.

2PM quoted what his master (JYP) said “He told us that if we could not work in the US, he would drop them in the Pacific Ocean.” Park Jin Young is now furthering his business in the US.

2PM “To Become This Season’s New Shining Star”

[kyeongin 13/05/09] Today the top 3 leading entertainment companies are SM, YG, and JYP Entertainment. Each company’s representative performance group, SM’s DongBangShinGi, YG’s Big Bang, and JYP’s 2PM, are in competition with one another. Of these groups, 7 member group, 2PM (JunSu, JaeBum, Nickhun, TaekYeon, WooYoung, JunHo, ChanSung) who debuted last August with their single ‘10 out of 10’ joined in on the competition and are making a year of progress.

Although ‘10 out of 10’ received much attention, they failed to receive the new artist award. However, their start this year is very favorable. Within 9 months of their debut, 2PM’s title track, ‘Again & Again’, from their 2nd Album, ‘2:00PM Time for Change’, was in 1st place on the music program, Mnet M! Countdown on the 7th. On the 10th, they placed 2nd in music charts such as Melon, Mnet.com, and Dosirak.

What sets 2PM apart from DGSG and Big Bang is their choreography. DBSG has a very manly choreographed appeal and Big Bang’s style emphasizes their charm and freedom. 2PM incorporates aerial flips and acrobatics into their choreography, making them very dynamic. But, they have yet to find style that will leave a mark on the audience.

“I think we are able to give off a very powerful feel because of the acrobatics in our performance. However, we are still lacking in some areas. For instance, DBSG’s charisma and their “live (singing)” talent with which they could go solo without any fault and Big Bang’s freedom and cool “naturalness” in their performance.” (JaeBum)

Each of the members have drawn a thicker line from the ‘10 out of 10’ days, in their song style, dance and appearance. TaekYeon, who has cut his hair on either side to bring a more masculine appeal, explained, “During ‘10 out of 10’, we manifested the image like that of a mischievous child. However for the addicting ‘Again & Again’, we are coming back with a more mature masculine image.”

WooYoung said, “Producer J.Y. Park realized that we didn’t have very many “big movements” in our choreography, so he worked with a foreign choreographer to incorporate acrobatics into the dance. At first the dance was so hard that we often got hurt during practice and so, we had to go to the herbal clinic to receive acupuncture.”

JunSu proudly said, “When we were trainees, he said that if we couldn’t dance he wouldn’t debut us. Although at first we thought that they were training us to be gymnasts, now we believe we have a weapon in our favor.”

JunHo laughed while saying, “ Now when I’m flipping in the air I feel delight”.

The other songs on their 2nd album reveal their “weapon” once more. “NiGa MibDa (I Hate You)”, which was told to be a song very suitable for 2PM, has an intense beat and energetic melody although the lyrics are sad. Most of the song is sung by WooYoung however, the song begins with JunHo’s voice color. In the ballad that has a beat, “DorAhOrJiDo MorRah (You Might Come Back)”, you are able to perceive 2PM’s vocal improvement.

The members say that after winning 1st place, for a moment, they were able to look past the hardships that they were going through.

JaeBum, who was born in the United States, said, “After growing up in Seattle, I came to Korea 4 years ago. The food didn’t match me and I was very lonely. But I guess all people adapt. I think that whatever the situation, if you are patient and are able to overcome the problem, you will get results”. TaekYeon, who grew up in Boston, added, “I think this is the jumpstart for our future goal”

The intro track on their new single reveals 2PM’s aspiration through JaeBum’s English rap. “What time is it now? It’s time for change. It’s time for a new star to shine~”

finally! I love the song and the MV, and i was looking forward on their live performance.

but i was disappointed on comeback performance, maybe i was expecting too much. but then as I watch their succeeding performances, they were improving. I am already expecting them to be on no. 1. though it took them few weeks to win their first no.1 i think they deserve it.

i’ll not be surprised if they sweep the all the awards next week. and it would be a fierce battle on the third week with 2ne1 debuting next week

2PM: “What make us ‘feel down…”

Only a week, after 2PM’s latest album has been released, their single ‘Again & Again’ and album ‘Time for Change’ are on the top rank of several Korean leading music charts. Today, 2PM members are talking about the thing that cause them feel down.

Jaeboem said, “I’m short? No, just average. ”

Jaeboem, 2PM’s leader insisted that he did not feel down with his height that is in average level but it’s because average height of 2PM members is 180 cm, that made him seems short. However, even Jaeboem is 174cm, but his wonderful ‘chocolate abs’ is the best in this group.

Jaeboem also added that, “My Korean is not good enough. So when we were in TV or radio program I could not understand the whole thing or laugh together with them and this condition made me feel down.” Jaeboem was born in US and came back to Korea last five year for debuting to be a singer.

Chansung, the youngest in this group said, “I am a real Korean-born but they teased me that my Korean is worse than Jaeboem bro. ”
“When I say something, my words are not continuing smoothly. They have teased me about this. ” He said while was laughing. “However, I still could not fix this problem, so it made me feel down.”

Chansung said humorously that, “Because I have a childish personality, so I did not get angry when they teased me. All bros always do like that and I am an easy-going and playful one. ” “However, the teasing that my Korean is worse than Jaeboem bro who has lived in US for 18 years seems too much.”

Junsu has a problem with his forgetful habit. “My forgetful habit is a serious problem.” He mentioned something he forgot included his purse and the worst case is his video camera that cost a million won. That big amount of money was a reward from a singing contest which he won before the debut. “I was shocked.”

That camera is very important for Junsu dance practicing. The boys said, “he might be amnesia.” Junsu sigh and said, “at that time I was serious about this problem and though that I should have a hypnotized treatment”

Taecyeon has a problem with his dressing style.

He said, “My dressing style doesn’t work.” The other members said loudly, “It’s not, ‘doesn’t work’ but it is ‘weird’.” Taecyoen responded angrily that, “ do we need to dress fashionable when we go to supermarket?” Then, he smile and said, “not only my friends but even fans also teased me about this. So, I should pay attention on this.”

It seems like Taecyeon still has confidence on his fashion philosophy (?) “I have my own style.”

Junho, “I’m not a funny? Let’s re-think about it tonight.”

Junho said, “my friends said I’m not a funny one but actually it’s because I intended not to be funny and keep watching other’s reaction.” The members were trying to tease Junho’s word but he reacted calmly with resisting, “before you go to bed to night, think about it thoroughly and laugh.”

“I’m the one who easily feel down. I always think that I would do better for our stage performances.” Junho said.

Wooyoung “Don’t ask me why I cried last night, my eyes just puffy.”

“Sometimes our fans asked me why I cried last night.” Wooyoung said. “My eyes are small, so when it was puffy in the morning, I could not go anywhere.”

During the interviewing, the reporter told him, “it is not that bad.” Woo Young responded quickly, “it could be seen clearly through TV, my eyes were disappeared.” He sigh dejectedly, “is it a incurable symptom?”

Nichkhun, “I’m very happy, I can eat as much as I want and never gain weight.”

The last member of the group said about the topic ‘feel down’ shortly, “I’m happy.” He was trying to gather and arrange Korean language which is not so good in his minds for few minutes. “I ate a lot but have not gained weight…” Then, his team members shouted loudly, “that’s enough!”

Nickhun intended to say that his muscle is less than other members but it seems like he said something wrong. He added, “because I’m not good at Korean.” Others 2PM members clicked their tongue and said, “he is not good at Korean, just only this kind of situation.”
