Introducing the first annual “allkpop Awards”!

Posted by diopatra on December 7, 2010

The end of the year is near, and the Korean music industry is abuzz with news of upcoming awards shows that seek to recognize the most outstanding artists in a multitude of categories.

As a nod to these important events in the K-pop realm, allkpop has decided to initiate our first ever “allkpop Awards” this year, and we’re inviting fans from all over the world to determine the results!

That’s right – the votes will be 100% determined by international K-pop fans.

In order to ensure that the results are achieved in a fair manner, we’ve established a system in which votes can be submitted once a day per category via Twitter or Facebook.

Fans can vote as many times as they like over the course of the awards voting period, but again, only one vote per category per day will be counted.

We are aiming to make this an award that accurately represents the opinions of the international K-pop community, so check out the nominees below, and help decide K-pop’s best of 2010!

Kim Bum’s Dream Confirmed for July Broadcast

Posted by diopatra on June 25, 2009

With poor ratings weighing heavily on its shoulders, SBS has decided to cut their losses on their period drama, Ja Myung Go which had been originally scheduled for 50 episodes. It will now be shortened to just 39 episodes and will end it’s run on 21st July. Replacing it will be Dream, a sports themed drama starring Kim Bum, Joo Jin Mo, Son Dambi, Julien Kang, Choi Yeo Jin, Oh Dal Soo, Chung Lim, etc. Dream was set for broadcast in September originally but SBS has decided to rush it and replace Ja Myung Go to revive the station’s flagging ratings on Monday and Tuesday nights.

SBS Dream is a story about a youth, Lee Jang Suk (Kim Bum) who spent time in a juvenile detention center for picking pockets, and his journey to be a top boxer after he was released, with the help of a sports agent, Nam Jae Yul (Joo Jin Mo). The drama has been claimed by sections of the media as the Korean version of Jerry Maguire although the plot of Dream is nothing like it. Many scenes of topless guys guaranteed.

Dream will debut on 27th July and filming had already begun on 18th June.

Chung Lim Confirmed For Sbs Dream

Posted by diopatra on June 19, 2009

Just like Son Dambi, newbie singer Chung Lim will be putting his singing career on the backburner as he will be joining the cast for SBS sports themed drama Dream which will be airing in August (depending on Ja Myung Go schedule). Chung Lim who made his debut as a singer in March with his title song Step, will be playing a mixed martial arts fighter who has a handsome appearance. He started training himself up since the beginning of May with martial arts lessons, so as to make his acting as realistic as possible plus if certain scenes require him to go topless.

Besides Kim Bum, Joo Jin Mo, Son Dambi and Chung Lim, others that has been confirmed for the drama include Marco (of We Got Married fame), Julien Kang, Choi Yeo Jin and Oh Dal Soo.

Unlike Son Dambi who will be acting for the first time, Chung Lim has actually had some experience in acting but he was dancing most of the time instead of acting though.
